C1W Feature in the Winter 2023 Edition of Ground Water Canada – Water Data Not Seen Before

A conceptually, comprehensive, physically based hydrologic modelling platform developed by a Canadian company is changing the way we think about, study and plan water resources – surface and groundwater – in Canada, now and long into the future.
— Carolyn Camilleri for Ground Water Canada

Ground Water Canada is the go-to journal for any news pertaining to the water well industry. Readers can access current news and information on a variety of topics to help them be informed on regulations, products, features, projects and more.

Their most recent edition highlighted the Canada1Water project, detailing the mission of this world-class modelling project and delving into the potential user base. It outlined how the project will be useful for a wide variety of Canadians in many different sectors/industries, and just what the Canada1Water project aims to deliver. The article features interviews with Dr. Hazen Russell (C1W project co-lead) from GSC and Aquanty’s Brayden McNeill, who describe the scale of the project and just how influential it will be for water resources managers across Canada.

We’re modelling the entirety of continental Canada and that hasn’t really been done in this type of numeric modelling environment before – it’s a first.
— Dr. Hazen Russell (C1W Project co-lead)
The concept behind C1W is similar to that of HydroGeoSphere-RealTime (HGSRT) except it’s going to be delivering data at a much coarser and larger spatial scales and for time periods much further in the future.
