Dr. Dan McKenney - Government of Canada Science Profile
Dan McKenney is a senior scientist and Director, Integrative Ecology and Economics Division at the Great Lakes Forestry Centre, Canadian Forest Service in Sault Ste Marie. His research interests includes climate change economics and ecology as well as an ongoing interest in behavioural economics, non-market valuation and cost-benefit analysis. He has a PhD in Forest Economics and Policy from the Australian National University, Master’s in Resource Economics from the University of Guelph and a BSc in Forest Science from Texas A&M University. He is an Adjunct at University of Toronto and, Guelph. Over the course of his career has also worked for the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research.
What is your role in the C1W project?
His contributions will include helping develop various historical spatial climate models that can be used in HydroGeoSphere and help undertake integrated forest/fire/water risk assessments. This will include writing peer-reviewed articles and where needed public interpretations of these including webinars.
What benefits do you think C1W will bring to Canada/Canadians?
The C1W project will bring together data and people to help provide important insights and perspectives on the role(s) of hydrology in the health of ecosystems and people
