Dr. John Crowley
John is a senior geodetic engineer at the Canadian Geodetic Survey and an adjunct professor in the Dept. of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Ottawa. His current work involves using satellite and terrestrial geophysical measurements (gravity, altimetry, GPS, seismic, etc.) to study spatial and temporal variability in gravity for refinements to Canadian geoid models, improvements to the Canadian Gravity Network, and to monitor changes in ground water, ice masses, isostatic adjustment, and other large geophysical mass variations. John has experience and interest in a broad range of geophysical and geodynamical problems related to large scale planetary evolution, heat and chemical transport, planetary dynamos, melt dynamics and transport, energetics of planetary tectonic systems, and, in general, feedbacks in dynamical systems.
