Update of C1W Basins: Baffin Island and Expanding Basins

The C1W project scope continues to grow and change as the team encounters the challenges inherent with watershed science at a truly continental scale! Here we provide some updates on the big picture of the C1W modeling project. Click here to read the previous regional update.

Several important additions and modifications were made to the C1W model domains over the past four month. These modifications will improve the coverage and performance of the basin scale HydroGeoSphere models. Firstly, Baffin Island was partitioned from the Arctic Model to become its own distinct model due to its unique surface drainage features and hydrostratigraphy. Second, watershed delineation along the Canada/USA borders in the Nelson and Pacific Models were grown to include all watershed areas from the NHD with flow into Canada (i.e Red River, Missouri-Poplar, Milk, Upper Colombia River, Middle Yukon River, etc.).
